A woman called the emergency service because her husband wasn’t answering his phone

Unedited text.

July. Early morning on a workday. About 4am I picked up a guy with an injured foot from Kivenlahti, Espoo. He was about 30-35 years old. Sleepy and half-drunk, half hung over guy who wanted to go to another multi-storey house. We had about a kilometer (0,6mi) to drive.

During that short time he gave me an overview of where he was coming and what had happened.

He told me that they had been drinking beer and watching the TV in the evening with a friend. There was more beer than necessary, though, and he had fallen asleep in front of the TV. When he left home, though, he had told his wife that he would be back by midnight. That plan didn’t work.

At maybe 2-3am, his wife had called him on his phone but either him nor his friend didn’t hear it. They were calmly sleeping their beer-filled dreams. Finally, at 4am the sleep wasn’t so deep anymore and after several calls the guy finally woke up to his wife calling.

The wife was so angry, he wasn’t sure if he could get into his house. He explained that his wife is irrationally jealous also. She had thought that her husband is somewhere enjoying himself with another woman. Like that isn’t enough, she had called the emergency service and told them that her husband is missing… To that, the guy asked me: “Can you imagine a person with this kind of fantasy, who could do such a thing? I just fell asleep at a friend’s house and the broad has me announced missing…” I really didn’t know what to say. I just thought to myself that nobody is asking you to be with such a woman. It’s his free will.
